rule_10b5_1_plan is three-valued. true and false are affirmative disclosures by the filer; null means the filing never disclosed plan status at all — read it as unknown, not as false. rule_10b5_1_source tells you which of the three you got.

Free means free.

Every account can create a free API key with 100 requests a month. No card, no trial clock, no sales call. When your agent outgrows it, Plus is $12 a month for 1,000 requests a day and full history.

Model Context Protocol · v0.1

Bring it into your agent

filingexplorer-mcp is an open-source MCP server for the FilingExplorer API. It works with Claude, Codex, Cursor, Hermes and any other MCP client that runs local servers.

It runs on your machine and calls the API with your own key, with no hosted service in between. Responses are compact enough for a context window, and filing text comes back exactly as filed, with no AI summaries.

  • Company profiles, filing lists and reported financials
  • Verbatim 10-K, 10-Q, 20-F and S-1 sections and exhibits
  • 13F portfolios and top holders, quarter over quarter
  • Form 4 trades, including Rule 10b5-1 disclosure, and insider buying clusters
  • ETF holdings from N-PORT filings
  • Your watchlists, read and write
  • Open source, Apache-2.0

Lobbying, Form ADV and earnings calls are on the REST API but not in the MCP server yet. Tool names and outputs may change between 0.x versions.

"What did Berkshire Hathaway add to its portfolio last quarter?"
"Who are the largest institutional holders of NVDA, and who sold?"
"Get the risk factors from Tesla's latest 10-K."
"List this year's Form 4 sales at Apple and say which were under a 10b5-1 plan."

Data rights, in plain language

Everything we serve derives from public regulatory filings. Store it, analyze it, build products on it. Cite us on published output. Don't resell bulk raw dumps.

Full terms in the ToS

Not building? Just researching?

The FilingExplorer plugin will give Claude a research desk — investment-research skills that run real methodology against real filings, every answer cited to its filing. It isn't open to the public yet; until it is, the same data is live over the API and MCP server.
